Ex-library copy with white ink class mark on front cover, a few ink stamps on t.p. and verso; remains of issue label on end paper not fully obscuring the map of Turkmenia with floristic subdivisions. Pages tanned towards margins, rear hinge starting, otherwise a sound copy. The first author made extensive collections in Turkmenia from his base in the Botanical Institute at Ashgabat. This is a typical Russian 'key flora' where there are no generic descriptions other than in the keys to genera, and likewise the species entries contain only telegraphic information on life-form, height, distribution, flowering time and habitat requirements. Also includes card-bound xerographic reprint of E.G. Chernyakovska's 'Ocherk rastitel'nosti Kopet-Daga' [an overview of the vegetation of the Kopet mountains], published in 1927 in 'Izvestiya Glavnogo Botanicheskogo Sada' (Newsletter of the Main Botanic Garden [Moscow]), pp. 253-266, including map of her explorations.
