With a foreword by Sir William Wright-Smith, this is a very impressive monograph by a distinguished plant taxonomist who later became Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The genus is centred on the Himalayas and many of its species are highly sought after by gardeners. Treats hybrids as well as species, with maps of the Series and an index to botanical names.
